Hypersonica secures €100m Series B
Hypersonica raised €100m to accelerate testing, development and manufacturing preparations for European hypersonic deep-strike systems.
Hypersonic systems are demanding engineering projects. Hypersonica’s latest financing gives the British-German startup more room to test its technology and prepare for larger-scale development.
What happened
Hypersonica secured a €100m Series B co-led by Lightspeed and General Catalyst, with participation from existing investors including Plural and 201 Ventures.
The company, founded in 2023, has its headquarters in Munich and a subsidiary in London. It plans to use the capital to increase testing, advance its deep-strike systems and expand engineering and manufacturing operations in Europe. Its stated target is to complete development of those systems by 2029.
Why it matters
Hypersonic flight creates difficult problems in materials, aerodynamic heating, guidance and control. Progress requires repeated testing and evidence that the complete system can operate consistently, alongside the work needed to manufacture it.
The investment supports that development process. For European defence customers, it also adds financing behind a company seeking to build a regional supply of advanced strike technology.
The bigger picture
Defence startups must eventually connect technical development with procurement schedules and production requirements. Those are related challenges, but they are not interchangeable: a successful test does not by itself establish a deployable product.
Hypersonica’s next phase is therefore about delivery as much as invention. The relevant milestones are further test results, customer programmes and manufacturing readiness as the company works towards its development target.
