HSBC Launches AI-Connected Banking Platform
HSBC launches a corporate transaction-banking platform designed to support both human users and permissioned AI tools.

HSBC is beginning to design transaction banking for a world where authorised software agents may need to interact with financial data alongside human employees.
What happened
The bank launched HSBCnio, a transaction-banking platform for corporate and institutional customers.
The service spans web, mobile and API access and is designed to support AI-enabled interfaces as well.
Permissioned AI tools can be given controlled access to query banking information, while HSBC also plans an Ask HSBC agent for interpreting financial data.
Why it matters
Corporate finance teams already connect banks to treasury, accounting and enterprise software through APIs.
AI agents add another layer because software may need to retrieve balances, analyse transactions or answer operational questions on behalf of employees.
That makes identity, permissions and auditability especially important.
The bigger picture
Enterprise agents will only become useful if they can securely interact with systems where the underlying work actually happens.
Banks are among the most difficult systems to integrate because the data is sensitive and actions can move money.
HSBC's approach is an early sign that financial institutions are preparing their interfaces not only for people and conventional software, but for controlled AI access as well.
