HexSeed Raises €700K for Data-Centre Cooling

HexSeed is an early materials bet on AI infrastructure, targeting power-conversion heat rather than conventional data-centre cooling alone.

HexSeed Raises €700K for Data-Centre Cooling

AI data centres are creating new heat and power-conversion problems. HexSeed is tackling that from the materials layer.

What happened

UK-based HexSeed raised over €700K, or around £600K, in early-stage funding led by Carbon13, with Net Zero Technology Centre and Vento Ventures participating.

The startup converts captured CO₂ into high-value materials and is developing low-temperature diamond coating technology for GaN devices used in power conversion.

Why it matters

The round is very early, but the problem is real. AI data centres are pushing more electricity through dense infrastructure, which creates thermal stress across chips, power electronics and supporting systems.

Most cooling discussions focus on liquid cooling, air cooling or facility design. HexSeed is looking at the material properties of components that help move and manage power.

The bigger picture

The AI infrastructure boom will create opportunities beyond GPUs and data-centre developers. Materials, power electronics, cooling, grid hardware and component-level efficiency may all become climate-tech investment themes as compute demand keeps rising.
