Harmoni raises $10M to bring AI into existing factories
Harmoni is targeting the installed base of legacy factory equipment with AI software designed for frontline workers rather than greenfield automation.

Most manufacturing AI stories focus on new automated factories. Harmoni is betting the bigger opportunity may be upgrading the vast installed base of existing equipment and manual workflows.
What happened
Harmoni raised a $10 million Series A led by Bessemer Venture Partners and launched HAL, a context-aware AI system for manufacturing floors. The platform combines factory software with custom tablets attached to existing machinery so workers can access instructions, report issues and interact with production data without replacing the underlying equipment.
Why it matters
Factories often operate machinery that will remain in service for years or decades. Retrofitting intelligence onto that installed base can be faster and cheaper than rebuilding production around entirely new automated systems.
The bigger picture
Industrial AI is increasingly splitting into two markets: highly automated greenfield facilities and software that makes older factories smarter. The second category could be much larger because it addresses infrastructure companies already own.
