Ground A raises €9.1M as defence production scales
Ground A has emerged from stealth with €9.1 million in pre-seed financing as it prepares to industrialise its defence technology.

Ground A’s launch reflects a wider shift in European defence tech from prototype development toward production readiness.
What happened
The German startup emerged from stealth and announced €9.1 million in pre-seed financing led by Vsquared Ventures, with Quantum Systems among the investors. The financing itself closed in June, while the September announcement coincides with the company’s move out of stealth and preparations for industrialisation.
Why it matters
Defence startups increasingly need manufacturing capability much earlier than conventional software companies. Capital requirements rise quickly once a company moves from a working prototype to reliable systems that can be produced repeatedly.
The bigger picture
European defence venture is becoming an industrial-capacity story. Investors are funding factories, supply chains and production engineering alongside software and autonomy, reflecting growing demand for technologies that can move from demonstration to deployment.
