Greencovery Raises €1M for Cocoa Upcycling
Greencovery raises €1M to turn cocoa-processing side streams into higher-value food ingredients.

Greencovery has raised €1 million to scale technology that extracts useful food ingredients from cocoa-processing side streams.
What happened
The Dutch company is backed by ROM InWest, Brightlands Venture Partners and a private investor. Its process converts material that might otherwise be treated as low-value waste into fibres, extracts and other functional ingredients.
Greencovery is also working toward an additional €3 million round to finance full-scale production.
Why it matters
Cocoa prices and supply volatility have increased pressure on manufacturers to extract more value from every unit of raw material. Upcycling can improve economics while reducing waste and dependence on virgin inputs.
The opportunity is particularly relevant in food manufacturing, where side streams are abundant but often poorly monetised.
The bigger picture
Foodtech is increasingly focusing on industrial efficiency rather than only consumer-facing alternatives. Technologies that recover valuable ingredients from waste streams can improve both margins and sustainability, making circular processing a potentially durable business model even when broader climate-tech funding is difficult.
