BAG Ventures' small debut fund is focused on enterprise AI startups with clearer paths to customer demand.

Google Alumni Close $11.3M AI Fund

BAG Ventures is a small fund, but its thesis reflects a bigger shift in enterprise AI investing.

What happened

Former Google executives Bonita Stewart and Jackson Georges Jr. closed BAG Ventures’ $11.3 million debut fund. The firm has already backed 10 companies and plans to write roughly $100,000 to $500,000 cheques.

Its focus areas include AI infrastructure, agentic systems, security, governance and vertical software. The fund also highlights its operator and customer network as part of the value it offers founders.

Why it matters

The fund size is modest, but the strategy is notable. Enterprise AI investing is moving away from broad “AI wrapper” enthusiasm and toward products that companies will actually buy, integrate and renew. That means clearer use cases, measurable economics and access to the right enterprise buyers matter more.

For early-stage startups, customer distribution can be as important as capital. BAG’s pitch suggests that investor networks, operator credibility and warm customer introductions are becoming part of the investment product.

The bigger picture

AI venture capital is fragmenting between mega-rounds for infrastructure and smaller specialist funds looking for applied software opportunities. BAG Ventures sits in the second camp. Its success will depend on whether it can identify practical enterprise AI companies before larger funds crowd in, and whether its network can translate into real revenue for portfolio companies.
