Fragment Raises $12M to for AI Accounting Controls
The fintech infrastructure startup is building double-entry accounting controls for agents handling billing, payments and reconciliation.

Fragment has raised a $12 million Series A to expand financial infrastructure that helps AI agents handle money without losing accounting accuracy.
What happened
FirstMark led the round, with BoxGroup participating. Fragment uses double-entry accounting controls to support automated billing, payments and reconciliation. The financing brings its total funding to $23 million.
Why it matters
AI agents can automate financial operations, but a small error can create incorrect balances, failed payments or compliance problems. Building verifiable accounting logic underneath an agent is more reliable than asking a language model to calculate and record every transaction itself.
The bigger picture
As agents move from generating text to moving money, companies will need infrastructure that enforces correctness. Fintech systems designed for machine operators could become a distinct layer between AI applications and traditional payment rails.
