Fortaegis Raises $50M for Chip-Level Security

Fortaegis raises $50M to commercialise silicon-rooted security for AI, defence and autonomous systems.

Fortaegis Raises $50M for Chip-Level Security

Fortaegis has raised $50 million in an oversubscribed Series A as it pushes security deeper into the hardware stack.

What happened

The Amsterdam-based company develops a Secure Compute architecture that derives cryptographic trust from physical characteristics of silicon rather than relying only on stored software keys. The round was led by Serendipity Capital, with participation from TEL Venture Capital, TNO, Prodrive Technologies and others.

The funding will support commercial manufacturing and deployment across AI infrastructure, telecoms, defence and autonomous systems.

Why it matters

Most cybersecurity controls sit above the hardware layer. Fortaegis is betting that increasingly distributed and autonomous systems need trust rooted directly in silicon, especially as post-quantum security becomes a procurement concern.

That could make hardware identity and secure compute more important as AI workloads spread across edge devices and critical infrastructure.

The bigger picture

Cybersecurity is moving downward into chips and firmware. As software becomes more autonomous, enterprises and governments are looking for stronger ways to verify that hardware, workloads and devices are genuine before granting access. Fortaegis is positioning itself inside that emerging hardware-trust layer.
