Formic secures $50M for factory robotics
Formic secures a $40 million Series B and $10 million in asset-backed financing for factory robotics.

What happened
Formic secured $50 million in growth capital, consisting of a $40 million Series B led by Mercato Partners and $10 million in asset-backed financing from S2G Investments. Light Ray Ventures, Lightscape Partners and Citi also participated.
Why it matters
Formic installs and operates robotic systems for manufacturers, charging for their use instead of requiring a large upfront purchase. The service model can transfer installation, maintenance and performance risk to a specialist provider, helping smaller factories adopt automation without building their own robotics teams.
The bigger picture
Physical AI needs workable financing models as much as technical breakthroughs. Leasing and managed services can bring existing machines to more factories. The financing structure remains important: the full $50 million is not equity, and the asset-backed portion introduces different obligations and risks.
