Forgepoint has raised $9.8 million to automate a time-consuming manufacturing workflow: turning customer requests into accurate quotes.
What happened
The seed round was led by Primary Venture Partners and a16z speedrun. Forgepoint's AI agent, Frank, reads emails and technical documents, applies each manufacturer's pricing rules and prepares draft quotes while leaving final approval with employees. The company says it has reached seven-figure annual recurring revenue within six months and increased monthly quote throughput by around 30% for some customers. Those commercial and productivity metrics are company-reported. The product is aimed at manufacturers that still rely heavily on spreadsheets, email and experienced staff to price custom work.
Why it matters
Winning manufacturing orders often depends on responding quickly without underpricing complex jobs. Preparing a quote may require interpreting drawings, checking material and labour costs and applying internal knowledge accumulated over years. Automating the first pass could reduce turnaround time and free experienced staff for higher-value decisions.
The bigger picture
Industrial AI is increasingly targeting administrative workflows around factories rather than only robots on the production floor. Forgepoint's long-term differentiation will depend on how well it handles exceptions, proprietary pricing logic and the messy variability of real customer requests.
