Flex agreed to acquire EPC Power for $4.4B. EPC Power builds software-defined power-conversion systems used across data centres, grid storage and microgrids, including architectures designed for high-density AI facilities.
The deal gives Flex a stronger position in the electrical layer that sits between the grid, energy storage and increasingly power-hungry compute infrastructure.
Why it matters
AI data centres are pushing traditional electrical systems harder. As racks become denser and workloads become more volatile, operators need power-conversion equipment that can handle higher loads, cleaner delivery and better integration with storage.
That makes companies like EPC Power more strategically valuable. The bottleneck is no longer just buying enough chips; it is getting enough reliable electricity into the building and through the hardware stack safely.
