Félix Raises $200M for WhatsApp Remittances
Félix secured $200M to expand WhatsApp-based remittances and financial services for Latino immigrants.

Félix is turning cross-border money movement into something that feels less like a bank transfer and more like a message thread.
What happened
Félix secured $200M in Series C financing, combining $87M in equity led by Andreessen Horowitz with $113M in debt from General Catalyst’s Customer Value Fund.
The company lets Latino immigrants send money through WhatsApp, using a conversational interface rather than a traditional remittance app. That distribution choice matters because WhatsApp is already a default communication layer for many cross-border families and communities.
The new capital gives Félix more room to expand beyond remittances into broader financial services. It also gives the company a larger balance-sheet tool through debt financing, which can support transaction-heavy fintech growth without relying only on equity dilution.
Why it matters
This is not just another consumer fintech raise. It shows how financial services are being embedded into communication channels people already use every day.
Remittances are still a large, high-friction market, especially for immigrant communities sending money home regularly. By building around WhatsApp, Félix is betting that convenience and trust can come from meeting users inside their existing habits instead of forcing them into a separate banking experience.
The financing structure is also notable. A mix of venture equity and debt suggests investors are treating the business more like a scaled transaction platform, where capital can be used to support growth and cash-flow needs alongside product expansion.
The bigger picture
Fintech distribution is shifting from standalone apps toward embedded workflows: messages, payroll, e-commerce, employer benefits and vertical platforms.
For startups, the lesson is sharp: the winning interface may not look like a bank at all. It may look like the place customers already talk, shop, work or get paid.
