Fastweb+Vodafone Backs Mama Insurance
Fastweb+Vodafone leads fresh funding for AI-native insurtech Mama Insurance as it expands beyond home coverage.

Mama Insurance has secured new strategic funding led by Fastweb+Vodafone as the Italian insurtech expands beyond its original home-insurance product.
What happened
Founders Factory and Vento also participated. The exact size of the new equity round was not disclosed, while the company says total capital raised across equity, debt and non-dilutive funding now exceeds €2 million.
Mama uses digital and AI-enabled distribution to simplify insurance purchasing and is expanding into additional consumer products and SME coverage.
Why it matters
Italy remains relatively underinsured in several categories, leaving room for technology-led distributors that can make products easier to compare and purchase. The strategic investor is particularly notable because telecom companies have large consumer distribution networks that can potentially cross-sell financial products.
The bigger picture
Insurtech is shifting away from the early thesis that digital-first brands alone would displace incumbents. Newer models increasingly combine technology with established distribution channels, embedded partnerships and more focused product economics. Mama's funding fits that second-wave approach.
