European Fintechs Prepare for Growth Funding
A new survey of fast-growing European technology businesses suggests fintech could account for a sizeable share of the next wave of growth-stage fundraising.

A new survey of fast-growing European technology businesses suggests fintech could account for a sizeable share of the next wave of growth-stage fundraising.
What happened
Analysis of the Sifted 250 found that 12 of 22 fast-growing European startups planning Series B or C raises by the end of the third quarter of 2027 are fintech companies. Eight of those fintech businesses are based in the UK. These figures describe stated fundraising intentions among companies in a selected growth ranking, not funding that has already been raised and not a complete census of Europe's startup market. Timing and deal terms could change as founders assess investor demand.
Why it matters
The concentration is noteworthy because fintech companies often need growth capital to expand into new markets, improve product infrastructure and satisfy financial-services requirements. A stronger pipeline of prospective rounds can help investors anticipate sector demand, but it does not guarantee an improvement in valuations or deal completion.
The bigger picture
European venture fundraising remains shaped by the availability of later-stage capital and a challenging exit environment. The data offers an early indicator of where companies expect to raise money, rather than evidence of a broad financing rebound. Actual round announcements, pricing and investor participation will provide a better test of whether the pipeline turns into sustained investment activity.
