ETN Raises $1.6M to Build Europe’s Live Technology Newsroom
London-based ETN has raised $1.6 million to expand a live technology-news platform supported by a small, AI-assisted newsroom.

Technology news has become faster, more personality-driven and increasingly distributed through live video. London-based ETN is testing whether a small, AI-assisted team can build a European platform around that shift.
What happened
ETN raised $1.6 million from investors including Axel Springer and Powerhouse Capital, alongside angel investors associated with OpenAI and Google DeepMind.
The company plans to relaunch with five live programmes each week and an AI-supported newsroom. Its format combines live technology discussion with clips and other content distributed across digital platforms.
The round is modest compared with large technology financings, but the investor group gives ETN connections across media and AI.
Why it matters
Traditional news organisations carry large editorial and production costs. A newer company can use automated transcription, research support, clipping and distribution tools to produce more formats with a smaller team.
Live programming may also build a stronger relationship with viewers than isolated articles, particularly when technology news is developing quickly.
However, AI can reduce production costs without solving the hardest media problem: building a durable audience and turning attention into recurring revenue. ETN still needs to show that its early reach can support advertising, sponsorship, subscriptions or another repeatable business model.
The bigger picture
ETN sits within a broader shift from publication-led technology reporting toward personality-led shows, newsletters, podcasts and continuous live coverage.
Its European positioning could provide a differentiated angle in a market dominated by US technology media. The next test is whether the relaunch creates regular viewing habits rather than short bursts of attention around major stories.
