Epitome raises €4M for epigenome editing
Epitome Therapeutics announced €4M in funding to advance precision epigenome editing for programmable gene expression.

Biotech startups are pushing gene regulation beyond editing the DNA sequence itself.
What happened
Vienna-based Epitome Therapeutics announced €4M in funding, including an oversubscribed €2M pre-seed round and €2M in non-dilutive grant funding.
The round was co-led by XISTA Science Ventures and Caesar Ventures, with participation from Navec Venture Holding.
Why it matters
Epitome is developing precision epigenome editing for programmable gene expression. Instead of changing the underlying DNA sequence, the company is focused on activating or fine-tuning how genes are expressed.
That makes it part of a broader wave of platform-based therapeutic technologies aiming to make genetic medicine more programmable and targeted.
The bigger picture
Early biotech funding remains selective, but investors are still backing platforms that could open up new treatment approaches.
Epigenome editing is especially interesting because it sits between gene therapy, synthetic biology and precision medicine — areas where better control over biological systems could create new therapeutic categories.
