Emulate Nears $700M AI Lab Round
London AI lab Emulate is reportedly close to raising as much as $700 million at a multibillion-dollar valuation.

A newly formed London AI lab is reportedly approaching one of the largest early financings seen in European artificial intelligence, showing how aggressively investors are backing experienced frontier-model teams.
What happened
Emulate, founded by former Google DeepMind researchers including Jack Parker-Holder, is reportedly close to raising as much as $700 million at roughly a $3.7 billion valuation.
The company is working on world models, systems designed to learn representations of physical environments and predict how those environments change. Index Ventures and Lightspeed are expected to lead the financing.
The transaction has not been publicly confirmed as completed, so the round remains a reported financing rather than a closed deal.
Why it matters
The scale of the potential round is striking because Emulate is still a very young company. Investors are effectively assigning substantial value to the founding research team and the possibility that world models become an important next layer of frontier AI.
The bigger picture
AI venture investing is increasingly front-loading capital into elite research groups before conventional commercial traction exists. World models are attracting particular interest because they could support robotics, simulation and systems that reason about physical environments rather than only text. Emulate's reported financing illustrates how quickly talent concentration can translate into multibillion-dollar startup valuations in frontier AI.
