Emerald AI Raises $150M for Data-Centre Power
Emerald AI raised $150M to help AI data centres shift or reduce power use when electricity grids are stressed.

AI’s infrastructure bottleneck is increasingly about power, not only chips.
What happened
Emerald AI raised $150M in a Series A round at a $1.05B valuation. The company builds software that helps AI data centres reduce or shift power usage when electricity grids are under stress.
The round was co-led by Energize Capital and DCVC, bringing total capital raised to more than $220M.
Why it matters
AI data centres are becoming large, flexible energy users. Software that helps them respond to grid constraints could reduce strain on electricity systems and make new compute capacity easier to integrate.
That makes Emerald part of the infrastructure layer connecting AI demand with energy markets.
The bigger picture
The AI buildout is creating new climate-tech categories. Data centres may need to behave less like passive power consumers and more like controllable grid assets.
