EIT opens €40M university deeptech call
The European Institute of Innovation and Technology has opened a €40 million call for university and industry commercialization projects.

What happened
The European Institute of Innovation and Technology has opened a €40 million funding call for university and industry consortia. This is a competitive call rather than a completed investment.
Selected projects can receive up to €1.25 million over 18 months to develop innovation skills and move deeptech and advanced-manufacturing research toward commercial products.
Why it matters
European universities produce substantial technical research, but teams often lack the skills, industry connections and early capital needed to create scalable companies.
The bigger picture
The programme targets the commercialization gap by requiring universities to work with business and industry partners instead of treating research translation as an academic process alone.
