Einride Buys Flipturn for $38M to Control EV Charging

Einride agreed to acquire charging-software startup Flipturn in a $38 million all-stock deal as it expands its electric-freight platform.

Electric trucks are only useful when fleets can keep them charged without disrupting routes. Einride is buying the software needed to coordinate that system.

What happened

Electric and autonomous trucking company Einride agreed to acquire Flipturn in an all-stock transaction valued at $38 million. The deal is expected to close in July, and Flipturn’s team will remain in place.

Flipturn develops software for managing electric-vehicle charging. It monitors charger performance and combines that information with vehicle battery levels, planned routes, electricity use, on-site solar generation and energy storage.

Einride plans to integrate the software into its wider electric-freight platform, which already connects vehicles, charging infrastructure and fleet operations.

Why it matters

Commercial electrification is a coordination problem, not simply a vehicle purchase. A depot must decide which truck charges, when it charges and how much power it can draw without creating delays or expensive electricity peaks.

By owning Flipturn’s software, Einride can control more of that workflow rather than depending on a separate charging-management provider. That could make its offering easier for customers to adopt, while giving the company more operational data across trucks and infrastructure.

The bigger picture

Transport technology companies are becoming more vertically integrated as fleets move from diesel to electric and autonomous systems. Vehicles, chargers, energy contracts, route planning and maintenance increasingly operate as one stack. Einride’s acquisition shows why charging software is becoming core logistics infrastructure rather than a peripheral dashboard.
