EIB and Deutsche Bank give €560 million to Europe’s space industry
The partnership targets long-term financing across satellites, launch technologies and space services, with roughly half the investment expected in Germany.

Space companies can outgrow venture rounds before becoming easy customers for commercial banks. A new EIB–Deutsche Bank partnership aims to help finance that next stage.
What happened
Announced on 29 October, the arrangement is intended to back €560 million of new investment across the EU space supply chain. Eligible activities include satellite manufacturing, launch technologies, propulsion, Earth observation and in-orbit services.
Around half the investment is expected in Germany, with the rest elsewhere in the EU. The structure combines EIB long-term funding with Deutsche Bank’s lending capabilities and sits within the wider Space TechEU programme.
Why it matters
Space businesses face long development cycles and uncertain early commercial returns. Those characteristics can make conventional bank loans difficult to secure even when a company has a viable expansion plan.
Financing production capacity and supply chains could help more companies progress from a demonstrated technology to a scalable service or industrial operation.
The bigger picture
The €560 million is investment the partnership aims to support, rather than money already disbursed to startups. Its impact will depend on which businesses obtain financing and whether the terms fit their development and revenue timelines.
