Cyera Makes $1B Bet on AI-Agent Identity
Cyera plans to acquire Oasis Security, combining data protection with controls for AI agents and other non-human identities.

AI agents are creating a new identity problem inside companies, and Cyera is paying heavily to own more of the solution.
What happened
Cyera signed a letter of intent to acquire Oasis Security in a transaction valued at approximately $1 billion. The proposed consideration is primarily cash, with the remainder in Cyera shares.
Oasis manages non-human identities: accounts, credentials and permissions used by AI agents, automated services and software workloads. Cyera focuses on discovering and protecting sensitive enterprise data.
Why it matters
An agent can only become useful when it is allowed to read data and take actions. That also makes its identity a security boundary. Companies need to know which agent is acting, what it can access and whether its permissions should still exist.
Combining identity controls with data visibility could let security teams connect two questions that are usually handled separately: “Who can access this?” and “What sensitive information is exposed?”
The bigger picture
Cybersecurity platforms are consolidating around the agentic enterprise. Data security, machine identity, access governance and activity monitoring are starting to overlap. The size of the proposed deal suggests agent identity is moving from a niche feature toward a major security category.
