Corridian emerges with $38m for autonomous underwater logistics
Autonomous defence systems have another job to tackle: moving supplies.

Autonomous defence systems have another job to tackle: moving supplies.
What happened
Corridian has launched from stealth with a $38 million seed round led by Point72 Ventures.
The company is developing ultra-large autonomous underwater vehicles designed to transport payloads over long ocean distances. The funding will support platform development, an R&D facility and hiring.
Why it matters
Delivering cargo over long distances can be difficult when routes are exposed or contested. Underwater vehicles could offer another option, if they can carry useful payloads reliably and at a workable cost.
The bigger picture
The development effort will need to establish range, payload capacity, navigation and operational reliability. A large seed round funds that work; it does not mean the vehicles are ready for routine deployment.
