Berlin-based Cloover secured an €86.2M facility, bringing its total financing capacity to more than €1.12B.
The company provides an AI-native energy platform for residential solar, heat pumps and home electrification. It also said it had become profitable three years after launch, with a revenue run rate above €301.7M.
Cloover’s model sits around the messy middle of the energy transition: installers, households, financing, energy tariffs and distributed assets. Rather than selling one device, the company is trying to coordinate the commercial and operational layer around home electrification.
The facility is not a standard equity VC round, but it is still a meaningful scale signal because energy platforms often need financing capacity to support installations and customer adoption.
Why it matters
Residential energy is becoming more complex. Homes are adding solar panels, batteries, EV chargers, heat pumps and smart tariffs, but customers do not want to become miniature power traders.
Cloover’s pitch is that software can package those assets into a simpler experience for households while helping installers and partners manage financing, deployment and operations.
The profitability claim also makes the story more interesting. Climate-tech startups often face long hardware cycles and high cash burn; Cloover is positioning itself as a software-and-financing platform that can scale with stronger unit economics.
The bigger picture
The home could become part of the grid, but only if the experience is simple enough for normal people and profitable enough for installers.
That is the broader signal: climate tech is moving from selling green equipment toward building coordination layers that make distributed energy assets easier to finance, install and manage.
