Chrome speeds up releases as AI reshapes security
Google has moved Chrome to a two-week release cycle as AI accelerates both vulnerability discovery and the broader software threat landscape.

AI is shortening the cycle between finding software flaws and the need to fix them.
What happened
Google moved Chrome from a four-week to a two-week release cycle beginning with Chrome 153. The company has linked the faster cadence partly to AI accelerating vulnerability discovery and changing the threat environment.
Why it matters
Faster discovery is useful for defenders, but it can also shrink the time available before attackers understand and exploit newly identified weaknesses. Shipping patches more frequently reduces the window in which known vulnerabilities remain exposed.
The bigger picture
AI is changing software security operationally, not just creating new attack techniques. Release engineering, patch management and incident response may all need to move faster as automated systems accelerate both sides of the security cycle.
