Change.org Commits $100M to AI Rebuild
Change.org is investing its own capital to rebuild its petition platform around AI-assisted campaign creation and routing.

Change.org is making a large internal bet that AI can make online civic campaigns more effective without automating away human support.
What happened
The platform is investing about $100 million of its own money to rebuild its petition product using AI.
The first phase includes an AI copilot for petition creators. Later phases are expected to help route petitions to relevant decision-makers and expand campaign support at scale.
The company says it hosts more than 500,000 petitions each year.
Why it matters
This is not a classic funding round, but it is a meaningful platform rebuild.
AI could help campaign creators write clearer petitions, identify targets and organise supporters. At the same time, civic platforms have to avoid undermining trust by letting automated agents manufacture support or signatures.
The bigger picture
Consumer platforms are entering the AI redesign phase.
The most interesting question is not whether AI can generate text, but how it changes platform behaviour, trust and incentives. Change.org’s rebuild sits directly in that tension between scale and authenticity.
