CFS targets $85M CHIPS award for fusion semiconductors
Commonwealth Fusion Systems signed a letter of intent for a proposed $85 million federal award supporting fusion-related semiconductor research.

What happened
Commonwealth Fusion Systems signed a letter of intent with the U.S. Department of Commerce for a proposed $85 million research award under the CHIPS and Science Act. The work would cover power electronics, radio-frequency generators, reactor controls and semiconductor technologies for fusion plants.
Why it matters
Commercial fusion will require durable electronics and a supply chain capable of supporting more than individual demonstration reactors. The proposed programme addresses components needed to control and operate future plants.
The bigger picture
This is a proposed award under a letter of intent, not a completed grant. Final terms and delivery milestones will determine how much support CFS receives and what the programme produces.
