What happened
Dutch startup Boxd raised a $2 million pre-seed led by BlueYard Capital, with OVNI Capital, Antler, S20, Script Capital and angels participating.
Its platform provides persistent virtual machines that can be used by developers and autonomous coding agents.
Why it matters
As teams run many coding agents in parallel, spinning up isolated and reproducible environments becomes an infrastructure problem.
Agents need machines that can be cloned, reset and inspected without risking production systems or a developer's local computer.
The bigger picture
A specialised agent infrastructure stack is forming beneath AI applications.
Databases, sandboxes, observability tools and orchestration systems are increasingly being redesigned around software that acts autonomously. Boxd is an early bet that compute environments themselves need to change for that world.
