Boldr Raises €4.2M for Connected Heating

Boldr is building climate technology around a very practical entry point: the contractors already installing and maintaining heating and cooling systems.

What happened

London-based Boldr raised €4.2M pre-Series A to expand its smart climate technology across North America, develop contractor software and move deeper into residential and commercial heating and cooling systems.

The round was led by Unconventional Ventures, with participation from Ada Ventures, Tetrad Ventures, Techstars and others. Boldr’s products sit in the smart thermostat and connected HVAC category, but the company is also building software for contractors.

Why it matters

Heating and cooling are major parts of household and building energy demand. As grids become more stressed by electrification and AI data-centre load, flexible demand inside homes and buildings becomes more important.

Boldr’s contractor channel matters because climate hardware often fails when distribution is too consumer-led. Contractors already influence equipment choice, installation and maintenance.

The bigger picture

The climate-tech stack is becoming more operational. Instead of only selling new devices, startups are building software and service layers around existing trades. Boldr’s round points to a future where HVAC systems become part of the grid-flexibility layer, not just household appliances.
