BharatPe Launches Agentic AI for Merchants
BharatPe has added an agentic AI assistant to its merchant app, giving small businesses a conversational layer for payments, support and operational tasks.

BharatPe is bringing agentic AI into everyday merchant software, allowing small businesses to ask questions and initiate actions through voice or chat instead of navigating separate dashboards.
What happened
The fintech company launched an AI assistant inside its BharatPe for Business app, built using Google's Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform.
Merchants can interact with the assistant in English, Hindi, Hinglish and supported regional languages. It is designed to do more than answer questions: the assistant can initiate actions, follow up on requests, flag issues and provide updates across connected BharatPe systems.
That makes it a potential operating layer over services that merchants already use, rather than a standalone chatbot added only for customer support.
Why it matters
Small-business owners often manage payments, account queries and operational problems while running the rest of their business. Software can reduce that burden, but only if users can find the right feature and understand the interface.
A conversational agent could make financial tools more accessible by translating a merchant's request into the appropriate workflow. Regional-language support is particularly relevant in a market where many users may be more comfortable speaking than navigating complex software in English.
The bigger picture
The launch is a practical example of agentic AI moving from experimental demos into high-frequency business software. Fintech platforms already sit on top of payments and merchant data, giving their agents useful context and potential actions.
The test will be trust. BharatPe must ensure that the assistant interprets requests correctly, protects sensitive data and uses appropriate confirmation steps before carrying out financial or account-related actions.
