Besxar explores semiconductor manufacturing in orbit
Besxar is developing a plan to manufacture advanced semiconductor components in orbit using launch infrastructure.

Besxar is testing whether part of the semiconductor manufacturing stack could eventually move off Earth.
What happened
The company is developing a concept for producing advanced semiconductor components in orbit, using launch capacity to place specialised manufacturing systems into space. Its previously disclosed funding totals almost $14M, including a $9M seed round, but that financing was not newly announced on September 9.
Why it matters
Semiconductor fabrication is constrained by extreme precision requirements, contamination control and increasingly complex equipment. Space-based manufacturing is still highly experimental, but microgravity and other orbital conditions could eventually create advantages for specific materials or processes.
The bigger picture
As launch costs fall, startups are testing whether space can become not only a communications and observation platform but also a manufacturing environment. The commercial question is whether any technical advantage can justify the added logistics cost and complexity.
