Beelzebub raises €3M for AI cyber traps

Beelzebub has raised €3M to build AI-native deception systems that lure attackers into controlled environments before they reach real infrastructure.

Beelzebub raises €3M for AI cyber traps

Most cybersecurity products try to detect malicious activity after it touches a real system. Beelzebub is building false systems designed to attract attackers first.

What happened

Milan-based Beelzebub raised a €3M seed round led by United Ventures, bringing total funding to €3.3M.

The company develops AI-native deception technology that creates realistic but controlled services, assets and environments. Attackers interacting with those decoys reveal their methods without gaining access to genuine infrastructure.

The funding will support research hiring, offices in Rome and San Francisco, and commercial expansion among organisations adapting to Europe’s NIS2 cybersecurity requirements.

Why it matters

AI can help attackers discover vulnerabilities, adapt malware and automate campaigns. Deception systems attempt to reverse that advantage by creating convincing false targets and collecting detailed evidence about attacker behaviour.

This is different from another monitoring dashboard. It changes the environment an attacker encounters and can provide earlier warning before production systems are compromised.

The bigger picture

Enterprise security is moving toward more active defence as threats become faster and more automated. Beelzebub remains early-stage, but its approach reflects a broader shift from simply observing attacks toward shaping and containing them.
