Anthropic and Nscale Discuss Another $45B Deal
The proposed agreement would add another large block of AI capacity at Nscale’s West Virginia campus, but negotiations remain ongoing.

Anthropic and Nscale are reportedly discussing a second AI cloud agreement that could be worth about $45 billion. The talks remain ongoing, and the terms could still change.
What happened
The proposed deal would cover a second building at Nscale’s Monarch campus in West Virginia, providing about 460 megawatts of computing capacity using Nvidia’s Vera Rubin systems. It would sit alongside an earlier large capacity agreement between the two companies.
Why it matters
Frontier AI companies are locking in enormous amounts of compute years in advance. That gives infrastructure providers contracted demand, while leaving AI labs with long-term financial commitments that depend on sustained model usage and revenue growth.
The bigger picture
AI competition is increasingly becoming an infrastructure race involving chips, power, data centres and financing. A second agreement of this scale would deepen Anthropic’s dependence on external capacity while accelerating Nscale’s expansion.
