Analog Devices buys Alif for $1.35B as AI moves to the edge
Analog Devices agreed to acquire Alif Semiconductor for $1.35 billion as AI processing spreads from data centres into embedded and edge devices.

AI compute is spreading from cloud infrastructure into physical devices, and Analog Devices is buying its way deeper into that shift.
What happened
Analog Devices agreed to acquire Alif Semiconductor for $1.35 billion in cash, with up to another $200 million of contingent consideration. Alif develops low-power microcontrollers and fusion processors with integrated AI acceleration for edge devices. The deal is expected to close before the end of 2026, subject to customary conditions.
Why it matters
Alif adds a stronger digital-processing layer to Analog Devices' existing strengths in sensing, signal processing and power management. That combination targets applications such as robotics, industrial systems, healthcare devices and wearables, where AI increasingly needs to run locally rather than in a remote data centre.
The bigger picture
The AI semiconductor market is expanding beyond GPUs. As more intelligence moves into machines and connected devices, low-power edge processors are becoming another strategic layer of the compute stack.
