Ambrosia Builds 10 GWh Battery Factory for AI Data Centres

Ambrosia Energy has begun work on a 10 GWh battery factory in Texas aimed at supplying off-grid power systems for data centres.
What happened
The startup says the 150,000-square-foot facility near Austin is intended to reach full production within two to three years and could eventually support roughly 300 MW of new power-plant deployment each year. Ambrosia is also preparing a West Texas project combining 300 MW of solar generation with 660 MWh of batteries to provide around 30 MW of continuous power. The company was founded by former Swarm founders Ben Longmier and Sara Spangelo. Ambrosia's proposed power cost and uptime figures are company targets rather than demonstrated economics across a full commercial fleet.
Why it matters
AI data-centre growth is increasingly constrained by access to electricity. Solar-plus-storage systems can potentially bring new capacity online faster than large grid upgrades or new thermal power plants, especially in regions with strong renewable resources.
The bigger picture
The company is effectively treating battery manufacturing as AI infrastructure. Its long-term success will depend on project financing, storage costs, reliability and whether off-grid systems can deliver consistent power at prices competitive with conventional data-centre supply.
