Ambi Raises $26M for Context-Aware AI

Ambi wants AI assistants to act during conversations and daily activities, rather than simply summarising what happened after a meeting ends.
What happened
Founded by former Plaud executive Peter Mo, Ambi said it has raised $26 million across multiple funding rounds led by Luminous Ventures and Huaqin. It is releasing apps for iPhone, Mac and Apple Watch that can capture conversations and context, draw on users' calendars and knowledge sources, and suggest or start tasks as activities unfold. A separate hardware device is planned. Unlike a standard meeting recorder, the proposed experience is designed to provide assistance continuously across devices. Ambi says ambient capture is off by default and users can disable it; the company also says it does not retain recordings.
Why it matters
Much of today's AI productivity software waits for a prompt or processes a transcript after the fact. Ambi is testing the commercial appeal of proactive assistance that connects context with immediate action. That could create more useful workflows, particularly around meetings and personal organisation, but depends on both the accuracy of the AI and the quality of its integrations.
The bigger picture
Persistent AI assistance raises questions about consent when other people are in the room, recording indicators, data handling and whether users will tolerate continuous sensing. Privacy will be a product-design challenge, not just a legal disclosure. The category is attracting funding before a stable consumer model has emerged.
