Alchemab adds £25M to scale AI-enabled antibody discovery

Alchemab adds £25M to scale AI-enabled antibody discovery

Most drug discovery starts with disease and asks what molecule might treat it. Alchemab starts with people who appear unusually resilient and asks what their immune systems already know.

What happened

Alchemab Therapeutics secured £25M from the British Business Bank, extending its Series A and taking total Series A financing to about £109M.

The company studies people who appear unusually resilient to disease, using deep B-cell sequencing and computational analysis to identify naturally protective antibodies.

It plans to expand its proprietary dataset from roughly 500M to 1B antibody sequences and advance its clinical pipeline, including an ALS programme.

Why it matters

The discovery thesis is genuinely different.

Instead of designing a therapeutic from scratch around a known disease target, Alchemab looks for protective biological responses that already exist in humans.

AI and computational analysis then help identify which antibody patterns may be therapeutically useful across enormous sequence datasets.

The bigger picture

Biotech is increasingly combining human-scale biological data with machine learning.

The most defensible companies may be those that own unusual datasets and use AI to extract signals competitors cannot easily reproduce. Alchemab’s financing supports exactly that model.
