AIUC Raises $40M to Audit AI Agents
AIUC has raised $40 million to build auditing and certification infrastructure for autonomous AI agents as enterprises look for stronger assurance before deployment.
Enterprises increasingly know how to build AI agents. The harder question is whether they can trust them. Artificial Intelligence Underwriting Company has raised $40 million to turn agent testing and certification into a dedicated infrastructure layer.
What happened
AIUC's Series A was led by Ribbit Capital and takes total funding to $55 million. The company was founded by early Anthropic employee Rune Kvist and former METR COO Rajiv Dattani.
Its AIUC-1 standard evaluates agents through thousands of tests covering areas including jailbreak resistance, hallucinations, data leakage and unsafe behaviour.
Why it matters
Autonomous agents can access internal systems, execute tasks and make decisions, which increases the cost of failure compared with a conventional chatbot.
Enterprises therefore need evidence that an agent behaves predictably under both normal and adversarial conditions. AIUC is effectively trying to build an assurance layer similar in spirit to SOC 2, but for agent behaviour.
The bigger picture
AI governance is moving from policy documents toward technical verification. As regulation and enterprise procurement mature, independent testing may become a prerequisite for deploying agents into sensitive workflows.
That creates a new category spanning cybersecurity, model evaluation, compliance and insurance. AIUC's challenge will be making its standard broadly recognised enough that customers, regulators and insurers treat certification as meaningful rather than another vendor badge.
