Airbnb sets a 2027 rollout window for its travel AI agent

What happened
Airbnb said it plans to begin rolling out its travel AI agent in the first half of 2027. The proposed experience combines maps, photos, comparisons and other travel-specific interface elements, with support for tasks such as bookings, reservation changes and refunds.
This is a product and rollout plan, not a newly launched agent.
Why it matters
Airbnb is part of the reservation itself. That could help its agent handle changes and support issues that an outside assistant cannot easily resolve on its own.
The bigger picture
Travel platforms are testing how to retain a direct customer relationship as general-purpose assistants become more capable. Airbnb’s approach depends on combining its booking access with an experience people still want to use for discovery.
