Agora Labs Raises €4.3M for Medical Data
Italian startup Agora Labs raises €4.3 million to expand privacy-conscious, federated clinical data infrastructure.

Medical records contain information that could improve research, but they are often fragmented across hospitals and difficult to share securely. Agora Labs is building infrastructure designed around local control.
What happened
Italian startup Agora Labs raised €4.3 million in a round led by P101 SGR, with participation from the Mussetto family.
Its platform deploys computing nodes within participating hospitals. Specialised language models help organise and standardise clinical records, while privacy controls and federated AI approaches allow research to draw on information from multiple locations without simply transferring raw patient records into one central database.
The company reports a network of around 50 healthcare facilities and plans to expand internationally. It intends to use the financing to grow its clinical network, recruit staff and support larger research collaborations.
Why it matters
Hospitals capture valuable real-world clinical information, but incompatible systems and privacy obligations make cross-institutional research challenging. Federated data infrastructure can help researchers work across broader patient populations while allowing hospitals to retain control of source records.
The approach is especially relevant for pharmaceutical companies investigating treatment outcomes and real-world evidence. However, keeping data locally does not automatically prevent privacy leakage. Strong anonymisation, access controls and governance remain essential.
The bigger picture
Healthcare AI needs trustworthy data infrastructure as much as it needs powerful models. Agora Labs represents a category focused on making existing medical information usable for research under real operational and legal constraints. The test is whether institutions can participate efficiently while maintaining patient trust and demonstrable data protection.
