ADNOC brings AI agents across operations
ADNOC signed a multiyear agreement with OpenAI and G42 to develop connected AI decision-making across field planning and commercial operations.

Industrial decisions rarely stay inside one department. ADNOC’s new AI agreement aims to connect the technical and commercial choices that shape an energy business from field development to trading.
What happened
ADNOC signed a multiyear partnership with OpenAI and G42 to deploy OpenAI Frontier on UAE-based computing infrastructure.
Initial applications focus on integrated field-development planning and decisions spanning production, processing, refining, logistics, sales and trading. The partners will combine frontier models with ADNOC’s industrial data and expertise. Human experts will retain oversight of consequential decisions, and the solutions will operate within ADNOC’s oversight.
Why it matters
An operational decision can change costs, output and commercial opportunities elsewhere in the business. Connecting information across those activities could help teams assess the consequences together.
The difficult work lies in making the data, tools and decision processes fit. A more capable model alone does not remove the need to define responsibilities or verify the result of an action.
The bigger picture
Enterprise AI is expanding from individual assistance towards workflows that involve several systems and teams. Industrial deployments provide a demanding setting because decisions have operational and financial consequences.
The agreement establishes a programme of development and deployment, rather than proven business outcomes. Its significance will depend on how the initial applications perform and whether the approach can be extended without losing control over sensitive data and important decisions.
