A Vinyl Bar Raises $5.5M for Interactive Music
A Vinyl Bar in Shibuya raises $5.5M to build participatory music apps that take a different path from generative AI.

A Vinyl Bar in Shibuya has raised $5.5 million in pre-seed funding to build interactive music products centred on participation rather than prompt-generated songs.
What happened
The startup was founded by former Spotify innovation chief Máuhan M. Zonoozy. Investors include Mantis VC, SV Angel, BoxGroup, Quiet Capital and Collaborative Fund.
Its products are designed to let users remix, manipulate and engage with existing sounds rather than simply type a prompt and receive a finished song.
Why it matters
Generative music tools make it increasingly cheap to create endless finished tracks. That could make the act of creation itself more valuable as a consumer experience.
A Vinyl Bar is effectively betting that people want tools that help them participate in music, not only automate the process away.
The bigger picture
Creative AI is producing two competing product philosophies: automation and augmentation. Some startups aim to generate the final output with minimal effort, while others use technology to make human creativity more accessible. The market may support both, but their economics and cultural appeal could look very different.
